5 Festivals to hit up in Montreal this Summer

All year long, Montreal is bursting with activities to enjoy. However, when the summer arrives, city life plays out to the beat of the music. People come from all around the world to attend the multitude of music festivals organised in this metropolis. There is something for all tastes. Whether you are young or old you can come dance and celebrate the music!

We made this list especially for you! Here are the 5 main musical celebrations happening throughout the summer of 2017! Many of the shows presented are free and, in addition, you can find some the greatest names of the international scene in the line-up.

Les Francofolies de Montréal (June 8 to 18 , 2017)

This year, the festival brings the famous French rapper MHD, known especially among young people. The older generations will, you easily recognize the famous reggaeman Alpha Blondy.

The most famous festival is without any doubt the Montreal International Jazz Festival (June 28- July 8, 2017)

The international festival Nights of Africa is hosted from July 12-24, 2017. Different rhythms and various styles of music of the African continent are played together to create something special. The electronic music Festival Groove-MEG (July 21-31, 2017)

Artists from all backgrounds will be hosting this event. For the first time ever, the Electro parade of North-America will take place in Montreal. Make sure to mark September 2nd in your agenda!

Osheaga festival  (August 4-6 , 2017)

Los Angeles has the famous Coachella Festival and Montreal’s equivalent is Osheaga. The previous editions of this festival were a huge success. This year’s edition will consist of 3 days of music, hosted by world famous Dj’s and the biggest artists of the moment. Make sure you purchase your tickets in advance because they sell out like hot cakes! The Weekend, Muse, Major Lazer… are just some names among the artists present in the 2017 edition!
